Beautiful work, John! Thank you for submitting your artwork to the Southern California Artist Collective Group where the image is now featured on the home page. Feel free to post this image in the group's feature archive in the group discussion section. L/F

John Ressler replied:

Thank you, Anthony. Sometimes I need to take a break from my usual watercolor routine, and oils are kind of satisfying. I just wish they didn't take so long to dry... Artist's Description

Long a favorite area to walk in the south end of Palm Springs, CA, the Ozwit Canyon alluvial fan offers hikers and walkers a marvelous desert experience just a couple of miles from the city center. But it has been under threat of development for years. Recently a group of conservation organizations have pooled their resources to purchase and protect it. It's been a long, hard fight.

For as long as humans have had language, they have enjoyed stories. Scratchings on cave walls and peckings on rock faces are almost certainly story-related. Art, in whatever form, comprises a framework upon which hangs a story of some sort. Sometimes the framework IS the story, as is often the case with depictions of landscape or figure studies. Depictions of people doing things--even...
