Paris' Pere Lachaise Cemetery contains the tombs of many notables, both French and not. One of the more memorable is Chopin's, which seems freshly bedecked with flowers every day of the year. In many respects, walking through Pere Lachaise is like visiting a great sculpture garden owing to the great variety and quality of its honorific monuments. Chopin is but one of many great composers and musicians buried there.

Thank you! I wish I could whip out such things as quickly--and well--as Sargent. Statues are surprisingly tough to paint, but they make great models...they never have to scratch their noses!
